Youth Contemporary is a high energy introduction to contemporary dance. Improve your contemporary technique whilst developing choreographic skills through creative tasks. Build your confidence through dance and find a sense of flow and creativity in your movement.
The class will include a warmup, taught sequences, and floor work. From this class, you can expect to:
- Develop coordination and technique
- Improve strength and stamina
- Discover creativity and movement potential
This class is for young people aged 11 to 16 years with little/no dance experience.
Participants should wear clothes that they are comfortable moving in and bring a reusable bottle of water. Water fountains can be found on the ground floor and 1st floor of the building. Shoes should be removed for class and participants should wear socks or participate bare foot.

Half term: There will be no class on Thursday 20 February 2025
Please note, there will be an end of term sharing on the last class of the term where parents and carers will be invited to observe the last 30 minutes of the class. Further details about this will be shared with parents and carers during the second half of term.

Bursaries
Our bursary places are now full for spring 2025. Please get in touch if you would like to be added to the waiting list. Places will re-open for summer term 2025 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children and young people from low-income households may be eligible to access this class for free through the DanceEast Bursary Fund. Find out more about the DanceEast Bursary Fund and the necessary criteria here. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
