Our Creative Dance classes are a fantastic introduction to contemporary dance and movement, encouraging children to be creative and imaginative whilst using a range of tools and exercises to explore the foundations of contemporary dance, safe practice and technique. Appropriate challenges and modifications will be offered to encourage participants to realise their full potential and develop their creative dance practice.
Led by an experienced dance artist and supported by teaching assistants, dancers can expect to:
- Improve strength, coordination and flexibility
- Develop confidence and dance technique
- Have fun and make friends in a structured, supported space
This class is for children aged 8 to 11 years.
Please note that parents and carers should not be in the studio during the class but are welcome to wait for their children in our café or foyer spaces.
Participants should wear clothes that they are comfortable moving in and bring a reusable bottle of water. Water fountains can be found on the ground floor and 1st floor of the building. Shoes should be removed for class and participants should wear socks or participate bare foot.
Please note, there will be an end of term sharing on the last class of the term where parents and carers will be invited to observe the last 30 minutes of the class. Further details about this will be shared with parents and carers during the second half of term.

ACCESS AND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
If you think your child may require 1:1 support in this class, please contact us first for a chat. Whilst we strive for our classes to be inclusive, there is limited capacity for additional support beyond the Teaching Assistant’s role. We therefore want to ensure that any child who may require it is given the right level of support to ensure they get the most out of their class. Alternatively, you might wish to consider trying our Springboard Juniors class – our specialist provision for children with additional needs.
Bursaries
Children and young people from low-income households may be eligible to access this class for free through the DanceEast Bursary Fund. Find out more about the DanceEast Bursary Fund and the necessary criteria here. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
